Hello, I don't know how to spell it and now can't find it when I am looking for it. I know many of you have it. What are the signs and symptoms. Thank You, Kay

I would guess you are referring to Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Ankylosing spondylitis is a long-term disease that causes inflammation of the joints between the spinal bones and the joints between the spine and the pelvis. It eventually causes the affected spinal bones to join together.

The symptoms I have are - hip, lower back and leg pain, not to mention fatigue. See a Rheumy for a diagnosis if you are in pain.

Thank You so much for the replies. I have been having alot of hip "bone" pain like the pain is in side the bones. Mostly in my hips, low back and upper leg bones. It is starting to keep me awake at night. Should I see my GI first? Or just go straight to a rheumy or can a Family Dr dx this?

A Rheumy is the best type of doctor to evaluate the type of joint/bone pain you are having. There are a couple of types of arthritis associated with Crohn's disease and a rheumy can sort it all out.

Bone pain (osteopenia) is often caused by malabsorption problems resulting in osteoporosis or osteomalacia or both. You may also have sacroileitis because that affects the back and the nerves passing through the SI joint can be affected causing referred pain from points below the joint. This is usually felt as a muscle pain though.

If it is malabsorption, you may be able to relieve it by treatment with vitamins D, K and calcium/magnesium - under medical supervision.
