iron pill recommendation

hey all. im new to the forum, 37 has had CD since age 9, my doctor tells me I need to start taking an iron pill. I starated using this iron supplement and everytime I take it pain occurs. I am currently on probiotics, enotocort, and vitamins.

Can anyone recomend me a iron pill that will have the affect?

AGREED! These are the only iron pills that dont make me sick to my stomach. They work very well too. Remember to take with a source of vitamin C

Try slow fe, it is quite gentle. Google slow fe, you will find it.

I found some offbrand ones at target which were reasonable as far as price, they even came with 2 boxes of them, buy one get one free.

one thing that works for me with my iron pills is to take them about half way through my meal and then finsih eating.

Solgar's is a fairly good choice. The iron is well bound and does not cause nearly the damage of most ferrous iron supplements. It is used as an additive for iron fortification for some foods that have flavors that are damaged by regular iron supplements. Preferrin is a heme type of iron supplement and is very safe and bioavailable. For those with very sensitive guts, Ferric trimaltol may offer help. To quote a book online: "In one study, ferric trimaltol corrects anemia in 14 of 19 anemic individuals, most of which had inflammatory bowel disease (which makes them very sensitive to GI track distress due to ferrous sulfate). ::::the author might be a scientist, but he sure doesn't have good grammar - and it should be "tract", not "track":::

I am currently getting iron infusions! Those may work a lot better for you. Just an idea. I used to take FLORADIX iron and now I am on BLOOD BUILDER! They seem to do okay and my stomach is very sensitive to iron. Good Luck! LOVEPINK
