as i said it has been awhile since i was here i have been battling it alone i had given up on meds and all i guess

well any way i was in the hosp in may been in a bad  flare since  i have changed docs all around i have i new gi doc but he wants to do a scope because my last one was in 05 i think anyway when i had it done in o05 they had to do it under general anstestia because the mild didnt work and im afraid that is going to happen again and i will be awake and aware though the whole thing and the doc not listening to me to stop he said that if it didnt he would do it under general but only after i try the mild and i am scared to death

that i wont be at first and then be what am i going to do any one ever had the same issuse

My first scope I was conscious but 'out of it' and it went fine, can't remember any discomfort - I think I was just gazing at the TV of my insides high as a kite quite happily lol.

Second scope 6 years later - during that time I've somehow manage to develop severe anxiety in hospitals and so they fully sedated me as I was a freaking out hyper-ventilating mess, I did come round slightly during it but they just knocked me out again I have a very vague memory of it so I think the nurses were right on top of monitoring me and didn't give me a chance to come round fully. Also I knew the doctor who was doing it and they were aware how freaked out I get, at least the doctor is aware that this is a concern of yours and will hopefully be on top of it.

Ask for propofol aka "milk of amnesia". It is quick and no hangover - it stops working almost as soon as it is no longer being administered. It is not so good if you have low blood pressure (reduces BP), but it will put you out and is pretty safe.

I have issues with my perianal skin tags, so I demand they put me completely asleep for sigmoidoscopies, here where I live they automatically put you completely under for colonoscopies because they are more invasive and therefore very painful.

I would either damand they put you completely out or find a doc that will.

I am another one who uses GA for scopes, and has it done in an OR.
