Hello,
My experience isn't exactly the same but I'll share. I had a hysterectomy then 8 weeks later my appendix out ...then a re-section not to long after. Well, the resection came apart about 12 hours after surgery...so I had to go back in for another surgery and was in ICU for 10 days. After that...got C-diff and landed back in the hospital for another week. 4 months later it was obvious I was getting a hernia. It was probably about the size of a hot roller right around my belly button...so my regular M.D. watched it a couple months and later turned out to be the size of a softball. So, then it was time for yet another surgery.
Heads up...my general surgeon who did the surgery said I qualified for the "pig skin" instead of a plastic peace of grid that they usually put in for repair of hernias. I asked her, "how would I have known to even ask for this"..she said with Crohns, and my allergies I would qualify for it. I asked her why would someone even get a piece of "plastic"...she said costs. Ask for the pig skin! I have heard of some stories of people having this "plastic grid" put in for hernias and their body rejects it!
My surgery went off great! Really no problem at all. Looks much better. I have had 12 abdominal surgerys and really need ONE surgery to go good! HA!
Good Luck
