Its very tough for this not to affect you emotionally. I remember when I was first diagnosed I was offered counselling, which I scoffed at - at the time I was all "what you expect me to do, go and say yeh hi I'm ill what you gunna do bout it?" (good old teen attitude!) and to be honest it didn't affect me much then but boy it caught up with me a few years later as I never dealt with it. Now I allow myself feel sad/angry at the situation when I'm ill, its a hard time and yes things might be worse and yes other aspects of your life may be amazing but when you feel like your body failings you it is tough. I just let myself feel whatever emotion for a bit and then deal with it, trying to focus on getting better and the positives one day at a time. Don't beat yourself up too much, I also find that being ill in itself - lack of nutrients, dehydration and general unwellness can make you feel down and more emotional too.
