I was suppose to have my scope/dialation yesterday but because of problems with the machine I got cancelled and rescheduled to Jan 13th.  Because they didn't know if the machine just might be up and running I had to do my clear fluids on Tuesday until 3:30 when they phoned and said that it was a no go.  At least I didn't go through the prep and then find out that I was cancelled.  I was sort of disappointed that it was cancelled because my doctor is waiting for the results of this scope to decide what we are going to do medication wise.  He is talking biologicals but hasn't made up his mind which one we will go with.  I am ready to get moving on it and hopefully start feeling better.

Ach! I am so sorry, KnittingMom. I sure hope you don't have an annual deductable to add insult to injury. Maybe, you will get lucky and there will be a cancellation. Have you asked to be put on the cancellation list if they get whatever equipement it is they need to get up and running again. Maybe the scope sterilizer??

I was worrying about our annual deductable but both hubby and I were lucky when some cancellations came up. I'm doing the clean out today and tomorrow's the big day (whoopee). Its an afternoon scope, which I hate, but sometimes beggars can't be choosers. Hubby got lucky, he got the first scope in the morning cancellation. (The dirty bird!). And at my favorite facility to boot! Mine will be at a facility I've not been to before. *sigh*

Yes, it was the scope sterilizer that was down.  We don't have an annual deductible so $wise it doesn't matter if it is in Dec or Jan.  Normally I would ask to be put on a cancellation list, but being this close to the holiday season I didn't.  I figured if I couldn't have it yesterday then in the new year is the best.  I am having Christmas here this year so don't want to be feeling 'crappy' from the scope/dilation.

Good luck with your scope tomorrow.  I think an afternoon appt would be the pits.  I like the early morning ones, then hubby brings me home and I sleep the day away.

One of my biggest fears is that I'd go through the prep and they'd cancel at the last minute. I told my doc that once I start that prep, he was doing the colonoscopy if we had to put a Nikon on a stick. I am very hypoglycemic so the liquid diet days are very dangerous for me, my blood sugar drops when I can't eat protein.

I had to prep on a Thursday for a colonoscopy on Friday and then prep again on Sunday for a resection on Monday. There was no way I could go from Thursday to ??? on a liquid diet. As it was, I started to crash after two days on the IV after surgery. They had to plunge syrup into my vein then double the dextrose in the IV. My hand blew up like a Mickey Mouse hand. They were going to start TPN but my guts started working again.

I always have nightmares about them canceling when I try to sleep the night before a procedure.

Yeah, well, I won't go into it here as I started my own post. But - I've prepped, I'm running clear as a bell, hardly even yellow water - and we may be cancelling this 4 PM scope today.

I am fit to be tied. Right now I could choke my gastro and her office staff like a flock of chickens - except my gastro USUALLy comes thru for me. So, we shall see. Gads, but I am furious!!!!

That sucks, the waiting, and dreading it part before the actual test is the hardest.
