Fever and sick

So, I was off on a work weekend assignment this weekend and woke up this morning with severe cramps and diarrhea ending up with some blood in the d. I took a couple of imodiums to get me home (naturally, I was traveling) and I only had to make 3-4 stops.

I didn't have a thermometer with me this morning but tonight I have 100.8 fever. I've never run that much fever before with my usual colitis. I have taken some tylenol for the fever. I guess my question is, what should I do?? I postponed my colonoscopy and CT scan for a few weeks because of insurance issues. I wonder if this is just a bug or if something is infected? I hate to call my doc tomorrow, they will probably be mad that I postponed my tests. However, I will do what I need to do to get well.

Any thoughts on what this could be?? A routine stomach bug that set off my colitis or do I need antibiotics? I guess I'll be calling my GI in the morning. Maybe they can do my tests early.

I swear, I was sick for Christmas last year!!! Ugh!!!!

Work weekend? Sick last Christmas? Maybe you have stress issues - that can cause flares all by itself. Can you take a day off? You might want to do a broth only day - no other food and only water or clear tea without milk or sugar. Take that time to do some reading or just kick back. You have time for work or emergency hospital visits, you should make time for yourself and your sanity.

With you travelling alot it could be stress or its possible that its just a bug too. I would give it a few days and see how things go. Just because we have an increase in D and a fever, isn't always the Crohns, as we are prone to infections/bugs just like everyone else. I usually allow my self about a week to see if its a flare or not. That gives me time to see if its just a bug (if it gets better in a few days) or truly a Crohns flare.
