Second..sorry you had to find out that way and without the doctor explaining anything. You must have 1000 questions. Everyone here is helpful and will be able to answer most questions.
As far as eating...eat whatever you can tolerate. With Crohn's everyone is different. Some can't eat vegetables, some can't eat starch, some can't eat fiber. Others can tolerate everything. Everyone reacts differently to this disease. The fact that you didn't know you had anything leads me to believe food isn't a trigger for you at the moment. Don't worry so much about it. Just keep in mind what you are eating and if you find you have pain or go the the bathroom more at a single time, try to remember what you ate and experiment with it. It could be a trigger...it could be coincidence (sp?).
My only real advice for right now is to get yourself a good GI. They make all the difference.
