David, you should read Nanners post on New Members and officially introduce yourself, then people can answer your questions. I am always amazed at the quick responses.
I had some problems with diarrhea and urgency maybe 25 - 30 years ago, went to a GI, think I had a rigid sigmoidoscopy and drank the barium. That's all I remember. Nothing came of it and can't find medical reports from then. This passed and didn't have any problems, even considered the healthy one, until I was 55.
Had my first colonoscopy then and immediately admitted to the hospital (they thought I had colon cancer) more tests and diagnosis of Crohn's within the week. Had a stricture in the sigmoid colon so it had obviously been there awhile with no usual symptoms. More tests, more doctors and eventually resection.
I consider myself fortunate that I feel so well and at times felt quilty for posting on here but members are so helpful and there were hundreds of questions as this all came as a shock. Meds are very scary as well as the thought of surgery. So ask away and you may want to start a new post for specific questions.
Best of luck with your tests and keep us posted.
