cecum problems

I had a colonoscopy while I was visiting the family over the holidays (oh yay lol) and the GI was a little inexperienced with CD from what I could tell. The pictures he took were pretty bleh but he took a bunch of my cecum and said there is polypoid swelling. I looked up pictures of what a cecum should look like online and mine definitely does not look like that. I haven't really been able to find out any more information about what it does or what problems that can cause though.

My regular GI was hoping they could dilate my stricture but the other guy said he couldn't even get a pediatric scope through it so he didn't know how long it was. He said that surgery looks pretty inevitable for me but I still have to bring the test results to my regular doc to see what he says. I'm torn about the surgery comment because part of me would love to just cut that junk out and be in remission for awhile. However, it seems kind of silly to go through major surgery to cut out my intestines when they are still fairly functional. I flare a lot when I get stressed but we can always get it back under control. My stomach is super noisy because of the narrowing but I can live with that for now. I would hate to jump the gun on something like surgery and end up making things worse. I don't know :(

Anyway, has anyone ever had any polypoid swelling or problems with their cecum?

It sounds like you have Crohns in the most common area the TI and Cecum. That is where my Crohns is/was located too. I say is/was as I had the area surgically removed due to a complete obstruction. If you are feeling relatively well, I would just talk to your doc about a good maintainence med and try to stick to a low residue diet and I think you should be fine without surgery right now. Surgery should be a last option, unless things get so bad and your quality of life is suffering. Good luck!
