Trying to reduce my cost for Pentasa

Hi
I just came back from the pharmacy and my new Pentasa prescription will come to $300.00 per month. I saw on line that there is a generic (Mesalamine) and potentially purchasing from Canada.
I have spent over $5k in the last 3 weeks trying to figure out what is wrong with me and am looking for a way to reduce my new prescription cost.
Does anyone have any suggestions please???

Are you in the US?  If so, here's a link to a website called NeedyMeds, where there are links to patient assitance programs for the meds commonly used to treat CD/UC

Pentasa is on there, but the program is only good if you don't have insurance.

I buy drugs from Canada, mostly Asacol (it's generic there). I recommend pharmacychecker.com for finding a highly rated one.

There are multiple types of mesalamine medications. There is not only Pentasa, Asacol, Colazal, Lialda and Azulfadine. The work in different areas of the intestines. I would look at Fruitgirl's suggestion.

You can also try to contact the drug company and see if they offer any assistance. At one point I had no insurance coverage for one of my scripts and the drug company was able (after alot of paper work ) send me the medication in the mail each month. There were alot of hoops to jump threw this way but they covered the cost.

Fruitgirl and jesse's_girl are right, I used to be on the patient assistance program for Pentasa and it was completely free for me through the company, I have no insurance.
