After my colonoscopy, the doctor quickly told me I had aphthous ulcers (tiny sores) and moderate inflammation in my rectum, which was paler (loss of vasculature) than it should be. Everything else in the colonoscopy looked fine. My follow up appointment with my GI wasn't until a week or so later and she explained the results more clearly and discussed the results of my biopsies. I was diagnosed with crohn's of the terminal ileum as a kid and now it's all moved to the rectum. My GI still says I have Crohn's disease, and not UC. My GI wanted me to go on remicade for a skin to rectum fistula but it wasn't approved. I might end up taking these suppositories like your sister or Lialda.
Crohn's can still wreck the rectum; it's just not as common a place as the terminal ileum. Tell your sister to schedule a follow up with her GI if she hasn't done so already and to bring you with her to the doctor next time! After my first colonoscopy, I was so out of it that I don't even remember what was said. My mom did all the talking and asked all the questions. It also helps to take notes to review later because everyone gets overwhelmed when they hear it the first time.
