Oh no, my bowel is completely stopped up

So, I have my colonoscopy on Friday and I have stopped using metamucil because it clogs the scope. The only problem is that without the metamucil to bulk me up, and only the Miralax to make things soft, NOTHING is moving through. My bowels sound like a boiling pot right now and the only thing that makes it through is gas. Anyone else with primarily C get this problem? Tomorrow, I'll take the MoviPrep so I'm assuming everything will move out, but ugh, today is going to be miserable (Its 3 in the morning, and I cant sleep). I'm not even diagnosed with Crohns yet, but this sounds pretty close to what everyone feels when they have inflammation causing a stricture (Chronic C appeared with a vengeance a little over a month ago). Just a few days ago, I thought I would still be able to resume my life as a healthy 24 year old at some point. Now the gravity of this is starting to hit me.

Hi sickinny and welcome. I hope you get a dx of something curable and get well, I don't like welcoming people to this disease. If you haven't gone more than a week without going yet, then it shouldn't be too bad, whatever gut cleaner they're giving you should work just fine.

I have the same problem. Havent gone for almost a week, miralax does not work. The only thing I can take for my crohns is a steroid and imflamitory meds. I finally took ducolax and have been up all nite cramping, finally going. Wish there was something else that worked. Hope you feel better soon.

I couldn't last a week without going. Two days is my limit before I take drastic action. Fortunately, that doesn't happen to me very often, but it does on occasion.

Have you guys tried enemas? That's my usual weapon of choice when I get plugged, and for the most part it works. Worst case scenario is both enemas and laxatives, but I almost never have to resort to that.

Hi Sickinny,

You will certainly be able to resume a health 24 yr. old life, just as soon as you get a diagnosis, and subsequent appropriate treatment if necessary.

I might be too late to start trying anything for the constipation, as you're doing you prep. In the future you could try Senekot or Senekot-S.

Sometimes, Dulcolax is all that will work though. Everyone with Crohn's presents differently. Some have diarrhea while others present with constipation.

Hopefully your diagnostics bring about good news.
