I love the name randynoguts-I guess things must have got pretty severe for you.

Wolfie40-you sound so positve  and that is nice.

It is my 16 year old son that has begun this journey and I wish that I could have it for him, but it doesn't work like that, does it?

He just accepts it (doesn't really discuss it much at all) I don't think he is in denial more a case of  'I have it and that is that' so I am trying to find out as much as I can to encourage and support him with decisions he may need to make and to encourage him with food, taking medications etc.

Thank you all for the welcome, I am feeling quite privileged.
Chose Vixen because that is the name of our beautiful black GSD (obviously if son wanted to keep his condition 'secret' I would of chosen something completely unidentifiable to us as a family) Maybe I should of gone with Rudolph!!

I look forward to learning from all your experiences and wealth of knowledge

welcome to the forum, vixen most of us had cd young, myself included. I was 19 and my mom used to walk me up and down our driveway at all hours of the night arm in arm. I was to weak to walk on my own, we would walk so I could try to pass gas my blockage mas not at the dangerous point at that time. but she would tell me the same thing, she wished she could take the disease out of me and take for her. good luck with your son

It breaks my heart that there are so many people suffering with this and that they appear to be getting it at an earlier and earlier age. I hope that you are still getting some support from a loved one and I am sure that your mum is still watching over you

Artist guy - What a touching story about your mother. Mother's feel so helpless when their children are chronically ill.

Vixen - My daughter says it's depressing to her to research and talk with others about Crohn's. And it gets her down to know there are so many other people that are suffering like her on this forum and elsewhere. Everyone handles their problems differently. Even when she is feeling bad, her mind keeps going 100MPH with her ambitions. She doesn't spend any more time thinking about Crohn's than necessary. Maybe your son is the same. That is why I spend the time trying to figure it out too.

welcome vixen. You'll find a lot of support and peace of mind here. I hope your son does ok with his disease. I can't imagine having this at a young age or being the parent of a child with this disease.
