can this cause a flare?

Who knows?

For my recent flare, I would point to one of the following:

1. Swine Flu

2. Use of Toradol (contraindicated for Crohn's I found out) for migraines

3. Change of weather.

This disease is so tricky and so specific to each person ... so it is hard to say. I know that with each flare, I know how to take better care of myself and to prevent the mistakes from happening again. Yet, there is always something new to learn.

the body has already responded ,increased histamine, mabe inflammation and the liver has been sanctioned to breakdown tryglycerides to fatty acids. so that is the typical response
depending on the level of threat and your individual ability to handle it (some people may have a reaction to an allergen, beesting or food allergen for instance.
from the unwanted organism, other may have no problem with it). the extreme case is when the body produces epinephrine. an allergic reaction, etc.

thus you have already had a flare in response to the virus. The length of each of the things during the response
is important because in crohns breakdown to fatty acids seems ongoing and continually getting this mucousy response. The inflammation continues in the bowel
and the ability of the pathogen to enter more possible and now even might have some recognition uncertainties. The symptoms of the response continue.

The actual answer to the question involves the premise of the question, that is whether crohns can be made into remission. And, if the relationship to the symptoms
in crohns is analogous to the response from the virus.

They seem similar but we have trouble ending the crohns flare while the virus is supressed by normal immune response.
The distinction might be between bacteria and viruses as the medication for bacteria often antibiotic (...the saying is you cannot cure the common cold with an antibiotic).
Generally you cant kill the virus with an antibiotic, there are vaccines to slow down the virus (immunization) or antivirals. as disease in general are mostly viral.

but the question is the same: How do you know that you are/were exposed to a virus or a bacteria or something else?

In the almost 20 yrs that I've had crohn's, I've had one stomach flu (pretty good eh) and it was easy for me to tell the difference, I had much more symptoms with the gut bug than with my CD, and it was gut instinct for me as well, plus it was pretty obvious when one of my kids also became ill with it.

Grandpato2 I live in Canada, and buy it from a store called Sangsters, but I know it's available in some US states if that's where you live, I'm just not sure exactly which states or which store names.

Grandpato2 I live in Southern California and use Primadolphilus Reuteri. I buy mine at a local Henry's market. There in the refrigerated section.
