Is Calmoseptine and Zinc-Oxide the same thing?

Hey guys. Quick question. I kind of want to lay off the steroid cream for my itchy inflamed butt (hole). I heard that Calmoseptine is great from this forum, but every pharmacy I went too did not know what it was?

Is Zinc-Oxide the same thing? I bought a tube and tried it on this morning. It was a 2 dollar tube (thick white texture like toothpaste).

Here's what it says on the back of the Calmoseptine tube:

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide, Menthol
Other Ingredients: Thymol, Lanolin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Phenol, Calamine, Chlorothymol and Glycerin in a suitable ointment base.
A moisture barrier that prevents & helps heal skin irritations from urine, diarrhea, perspiration, wound drainage (peri-wound skin), feeding tube site leakage, fistula drainage.
Excellent first aid for minor burns, cuts, and scrapes.
Temporarily relieves discomfort and itching.

So basically you're right that it's zinc oxide. If zinc oxide alone doesn't do it for you, you can always get some Calmoseptine online via their website--or call their tollfree number (1-800-800-3405).

I use calmoseptine. and love it. i think the menthol in it helps a lot.you can give your pharmacy the NDC number and they can order it. or at least that is what mine does. but they usually keep it in stock. i got a tube the other day. it was 6 dollars and some change. a tube last a good while.
