The last post about this drug was in 2007.  Anyone have news about it?

The last I heard back in winter 09 they were still trying to raise funds, which has been difficult during these times.  I have been on anti MAP for about 4 months now and so far it is working!

My GI does not want to work with antibiotics for me he says:

"Antibiotics in Crohn's are helpful with fistulas, anal involvement, and sometimes bad ileal Crohn's, none of which apply to you. I do not recommend antibiotics for you."

I like this doctor a lot but I wonder what the harm of trying an anti-biotic treatment could be. He seems to be very up on ibd so I hesistant to question his judgement. He wants me to try remicade.

Yeah, always best to go with the doctor I suppose.  You could always take some papers to him/her to read them.  There is a good one written by Prof Thomas Borody, i think it's called - 'Antibiotic therapy in Crohn's disease: approaching a cure?' and there are plenty by Professor Hermon-Taylor.

Until a doctor can tell me what exactly causes Crohn's and how exactly he is going to treat it long term, I don't think they should rule anything in or out. It really frustrates me, personally, that they act like they have a handle on Crohn's treatment and causes when they obviously don't or so many of us wouldn't be running around trying to find relief from it!!

The doctor will allow me to try flagyl and bueonside. I am glad to give them a try before the remicade. Remicade sounds promising but I really want to try something less "dramatic" first. Wish me luck my friends and thanks for your counsel.
