hey bammer I lived in calgary from 1985 until 1994, our daughter was born in calgary, we loved it so much there, really miss it, we have the most warmest memories of our lives there, i worked in calgary march, april,may, then edmonton until sept. then back to calgary to mid nov. then we would come home for thankgiving and christmas, then back after new year so i could ski until i went bacxk to work mid march. but the fishing is beyond what anybody could imagine, I cross country skied to the trail in kanaskis and banff area would the best in the world, i use to fish all the highmoutain lakes in and around jasper and banff to bragg creek, i used to go fish the red deer outside of drumheiller to that was great. then in the late spring we woudl go fish for walleye (lobster on fresh water) at trophy lakes in and around north eastern alberta, and watching the northern lights was a sight to behold. not to mention there heath care system was the best in north america. lucky you what city do you live in? if you don't mind me asking

We live on an acreage west of Red Deer. My husband and I grew up on farms are not city people although we lived in Toronto and Kitchener for awhile in the 70's. We have a 180' view from our living room of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. We have horses and our holidays are spent riding in the mountains. We have a Labrador Retriever that runs the trails with us. Have done a lot of fishing in the past.

Our daughter married an avid hunter and fisherman and she likes both as well. Our son, daughter-in-law and grandson live in Calgary. I was referred to a GI and surgeon there, so doctoring and having surgery in Calgary has worked out well for us.

 I did visit your website featuring your gallery. Beautiful work and it must be nice to make a living doing something you like? And the casino isn't so bad?

very nice, I love that part of alberta, I use to cut my river birch in that area, it's just spectacular country, calgary is a grat place to take care of your medical needs, i had a resection done their, I worked on the horse tracks, calgary, edmonton. Horses are wonderful animals and so theraputic, I've been riding sincew i was 5. we still keep in touch with friends. their no racing anymore in calgary only edmonton, so all our friends are in edmonton now, tho I was in art business in calgary so i keep in touch with artist friend's. good luck with your medical issues and thanks for getting back to me.

I miss how Calgary used to be, back in the 80's...by the mid 90's the boom hit big and hard, tons of people moving to Calgary alone, let alone Alberta..it ended up getting so congested we decided to move about a half hour out of the city..thing is my eldest daughter now lives in the city again and in a couple more yrs or less, I'm sure my son will too, my hubby works in the city, so I imagine at some point we'll move back again, not really looking forward to it but at least I won't have to drive my kids to school (in the busy city rush) cuz once my son graduates next yr there aren't any kids left for us.

If we move back to the city, I'll just have my hubby drive me around so I don't have to deal with the crazy traffic...thank goodness I have a port-o-pot in the back of my van, less stress for my CD.

I came up to alberta for the horse races the first in 1972-73 that was really neat. then we moved up as landed immigrant statis in 1985, left in 1994 right before the boom hit, we would like to retire their in 5 or6 years, we didn't keep our statis and we're really upset with ourselfs fornot doing so. we love it up their, and their socialized heath care. nothing but good things to say bout it. in 72-73 the stampede and the horse races were on at the same time at stampede park, that was totally insane. they would 100,000 people at the grounds, the rodeo was on the in field they would stop an event then run arace. stopped when abull got loose a ran against the traffic of a race that was running. good times
