Our doc told my husband that he stays on remicade as long as it works for him - that he recommends only stopping remicade if he has a bad reaction, or has bad side effects, or if it simply stops working. This is because if you stop remicade and then try to re-introduce it, your body could have developed antibodies to remicade, and cause you to have a pretty bad reaction. So, yes, if you take remicade, you should take it for as long as it works safely for you, and if you stop, you may not be able to take it again.
