sick again -- help with pred

im feeling a flair for the last week or so. last time it was lots of loose bm's but now im feeling loss of appetite and cramping when eating. I still have a bottle of pred, asacol and am thinking about starting them again. I got off all my meds 5ish weeks ago. I am thinking this was dumb. I would like to go to the doc but my med will not cover anything for my cd. How do you do a short dose of pred? 3pills -2 days -- 2 pills - 2 days...

any other ideas?

Can you call your doctor for advice to avoid a doctors visit and a charge? It really depends on how you respond to prednisone as to how much you need for a quick taper. I have been at this for almost 22 years and for me I need about 30mg for 4 days and then go from there, but I've discussed this with my doctor many times and I know how I react to prednisone from many years of tapers and flares.

You could probably call a pharmacist to assist with the dosage. For me it was 10mg 4 times a day, tapering down by 10mg every week for 4 weeks. So I'm not sure about a short dose. Do you even have enough? If not, you might flair worse when you run out. I know they say the longer you taper the less likely you will flair right away. Good luck!

my cd has moved up my throat, mouth with canker sores and tongue with leasions, and I had to go 20mgx3 for 3 days, 20mgx2 for 2 days, then 20mg 3days, then stopped flare came right back in 2 days, so now I'm looking at probably long term pred with imuran, but I'm 10x1 with pred, trying to get it down to 0
