I'm convinced that an individual's biochemistry is a far, far more significant determinant of how much he or she can drink than having IBD. Severe flare ups or liver-damaging drugs aside, IBD probably has little to no effect on alcohol tolerance and the body's ability to process it. I can't hold my drink, but my brother with Crohn's
can. (Not that he's a heavy drinker any more, but he used to be.)
I do drink by the way, but only occasionally. I can't keep up with real drinkers (those who can hold their drink) and gave up trying many years ago; I'll have about
two alcoholic drinks then fall back to soft drinks. Mostly drink vodka/JD + coke or beer - not a wine drinker, although I don't object to a glass of champagne.
PS: Howlyncat, sorry about
your husband :-/
