Hi everyone!
I am having a capsule endoscopy this Wednesday and was wondering how many of you were able to be diagnosed with this test. I have been having right sided pain ever since I came off steroids back in December. I was in a bad flare of Ulcerative Colitis and on October 22nd I got my first and only infusion of Remicade. That lasted about
3 weeks and then I had bad neurological side effects from it so I cant take it anymore.
Well, I had been tapering the steroids after starting the Remicade and once I got down to 5mg, I started getting this pain.. Thought it was appendicitis at first, but CT scan showed normal bowel and appendix, then I had a SBFT to check for any obstructions and that test came out fine. So now.. off to swallow the giant pill that will travel through my small intestines and hopefully find some information as to what's been going on in there... lol... I don't fee too bad really except for this DOGGONE Pain... I've been dealing with it since December on a daily basis... I can't ride my horse, or even jog...
has anyone here been diagnosed with Crohn's with the Pill Cam? That's what they all think I have now. I'm feeling better but in a bit of despair..
I appreciate anyone's experiences very much!!!

I assume you have also had a colonoscopy. The right side pain is pretty classic for Crohns. Yes the pill cam can diagnose Crohns if it images inflammation and ulceration in the small bowel -- you only get that with Crohns, not with UC.

I have had the pill camera done to find out if I had disease in my small intestine, which I did, and that was followed by the long (18 feet) endoscope for biosy. I would think about
doing the patency capsule which could lessen the chance of the pill getting stuck if that is a concern. The pill is really not that big. I was having trouble swollowing at the time I did it and it went down pretty easy.

Even though I was having major pain recently, it took the pillcam in order for the Crohn's to be seen in my small intestine. Before that, I thought that I was going batty! It was my second pillcam experience. One of the easiest ways to confirm active disease in the small intestines!
