Dr.William Tremaine, Mayo Clinic??

Just wondering if any of you have seen Dr.Willaim Tremaine at the Mayo Clinic?  He is an IBD specialist and my GI has recommended that i see him to offer additional treatment options.  I would love to hear anyones experiences. Thank you!!

Yes I've seen him twice. He's a fantastic doctor.

Which mayo clinic? I'm about to go to the one in FL for a second opinion.

The clinic in Minnesota.  I just spoke with them and they gave me an appointment date and said to plan on being there for 3-5days.  I was not prepared to hear that at all.  I was planning a consultation, like sit down look at my records and let's talk about what you think. I was in no way thinking about having anything invasive done.  What has your experience been with a consultation at Mayo?

I just got done with a trip to the mayo and Dr. Tremaine was my doc there. The way it happened for me was I got there on a Monday and met with a doctor in training that went over my records and then with Dr. Tremaine after that and he basically gave me a run down of what he wanted to look at. Immediately after my meeting with those doctors I went to scheduling and they set me up for a blood test about 30 minutes later and then a sigmoidoscopy and ileoscopy (I have an ileostomy) later that same day. They give you plenty of narcotics for the procedures so its very comfortable and goes by very quickly. The next day I had a follow up with Dr. Tremaine during which he went over his findings and set me up with a new prescription.

JTaylor: were you even prepped for having a procedure done?  The secretary told me to come in fasting so I just assumed that would be for blood work.  Do you feel that he was helpful and it was worth your time?

Isn't the one in Minnesoda the best one for IBD?

I think Rochester was rated as the best hospital in the US for IBD.

I fasted starting at maybe 8pm the night before. I have an ileostomy due to a partial colectomy, so I don't have to do the major prep that folks with a colon usually do. After I made my appointment they sent me a packet of information including what they would like me to do before my visit, including prepping for a potential procedure. If I were you I'd search the Mayo website for a phone number you can call and ask them what they'd like you to do.

Well, I went there the 1st time because I wasn't feeling well on 50mg of 6MP. I had a bunch of blood tests and a barium follow thru in the span of 24 hours and he told me I wasn't taking a therapuetic level of 6MP. He told me to take 100mg and I got much better after that. In fact I was taking 125mg for a period of time.
