Tomorrow I spend the day prepping for the big C, and Wed morning is the test. This may seem like a silly question, but is it typical for the facility (in my case the outpatient area of the hospital) to call ahead to confirm the appointment, and if so when do they do that? I have this fear that I'll spend the day prepping all day tomorrow, and then get to the hospital on Wednesday and the facility won't have my appointment on their books, and all the prep will be a big waste. (i know this sounds totally OC, but I have had some recent scheduling mishaps that are making me anxious about it.)

The hospital I had mine done at called the evening before to pre-register me (and to collect my co-pay!).

I think it depends on the place, some places just don't have the resources to all and confirm appointments. I always have the same concern when I do any test with preps, so if I were you, I would call in the morning to confirm your appointment. Better to be safe than sorry, right? Good luck by the way :)

Mine just call to comfirm to make sure of their schedule the next day, sometimes people end up in the hospital, etc.

Thank you! I ended up calling both my GI doc's office and the hospital. The doc still has me on his schedule..lol. And the hospital looked first at a paper book, said I wasn't there, but then checked me on their computer system and said I was on there for Wednesday, but no time issued for the test...ugh. I told them my doc gave me a 9AM appointment and told me to be there at 7 am. They said that sounds good, and to be there at 7:00am then. It didn't really make me feel better knowing that I wasn't down for a specific slot of time in their system so I asked again, "so the test will really be at 9:00am then?" and she said yes and sounded confident. I'm sure it's ok, but I am still worried..lol. (if you see my post from last week...my scheduling anxiety would make sense..)

It can be quite an anxious time cant it. I am due to have a scope on 13/4/10. I have been having some trouble despite being diagnosed with UC 28yrs ago and having a total colectomy and j pouch 15yrs ago. I have recently been diagnosed with CD. Here in Britain once they decide at clinic that you need the test they just send you a letter asking you to contact them to arrange a mutually suitable time and then they schedule you for the test, and send you a letter and the prep through the post, you then return a letter within 7 days confirming that you will attend. I am to go in for 9.45am and will be scoped fairly quickly after that, all this is achieved within about a fortnight so its not too stressful.. My only problem this time is that they have sent me a phosphate enema to take on the morning of the test. I have a pouch which empties fairly frequently so i didn't think i would need the prep, but apparently i do. Yes, so there are always anxieties and even though they take it all in a days work, you sometimes think how they might feel if they were in your position. good luck with your test.
