We had no water this morning in our house. Hate when I use the bathroom and cant flush or wash. Lucky I had my shower before it went off. So we went to town to get a bite to eat ,plus I could wash my hands. When I got home our whole front yard was flooded and water was shooting up out of the ground where the water meter is. I tried to find the main shut off valve but could not , ( its hard to see with water hitting you in the face ) so I had to wait for the waterworks peeps to come. Took them a while but they got it turned off but could not tell where the leak was so they replaced the whole meter. After getting the old one out they gave it the once over and saw no problems but when they pumped out the meter box they found the bottom of the meter. The whole bottom had blown off. I was shocked because we seldom have enough water pressure to take a shower. Now I have a new meter and a mud hole where my front yard was. Dawned on me later that my meter just had an accident and got the runs while giving my yard an enema. Ain't life grand...

Well Fallcolors, I have had my share of stopped up sewer pipes , but thats the opposite of what my body does. I'm more like a blinder on high speed with the lid off. So far no gators, or black gold, just gumbo mud. Bad thing about
it , had the leak been on my side of the meter my water bill would have been a catastrophe , thats why I was in the spray trying to turn if of . On the bright side, after my wash down yesterday I shouldn't need to shower for a while. Anyone for mud wrestling ???

Habs, what else can a geezer with a geyser do ? This thing was like a bidet on steroids. After I did what I could to stop it ( unsuccessfully I may add ), and was standing there like a wet sheep dog , water dripping from my fuzzy face and mud in my ears, my wife had a good laugh. All I can say is its a good thing crap dont melt in water, cause thats what I looked like...

I still think you should have just dropped trou and let the bidet work for you!
Seriously...has your lawn absorbed the excess water or how did you get rid of it. I figure you would be a good resource on how to get rid of the water in my backyard low area...waiting for it to dry up takes forever here in the North even though we have had two days of 80degree weather.

Is the water company responsible for the lawn damage??
How's the water pressure in your house now? More free flowing shower than previously?

You always impress me with your ability to laugh at life's dirty little tricks. Me, I'd probably still be laying there
in the middle of it, blubbering like a fool...

Well, it dried up and ran off and my grass is going to jump about
a foot from the irrigation. Not much damage C2, just water, and we get lots of that anyway. I'm just glad I wont be billed for the leak. Water pressure is a bit better but thats not saying much. All depends on what time you take a shower. I'm an early bird. Grass grows fast here, we call it ,,inch a night. Best way to get grass to grow is to put a drive way in. When we get lots of rain we really need to mow twice a week to keep it from getting out of hand, so my yard will love the extra. If I were rich, I would pave the whole yard and paint it green.
