Prednisone and Entocort Issues

I was put on the prednisone two weeks ago and it worked really well. The joint pain, the pains and cramps, and going to the bathroom 15x a day were definitely helped. But as I tapered down to one pill a day and adding the entocort in, I feel like crap. My joint pain is back, I was vomiting last night, I am slowly increasing the diarrhea. I know from reading on here that Prednisone can't be a long term fix, but it seems entocort and I do not get along.

Is there a drug that works as well as Prednisone but with fewer side effects? I feel horrible today.. very tired, nauseous, lots of pain...I felt so much better on the pred...

I have a gi appt on friday to discuss all of this...and I do have a call in to the dr now... just want to hear what you think as well.

i'm old to cd 40 years but new to pred. and that is the only drug that helps me, I really watch my food intaske for my cd in my small bowel, but cd has moved up throat, esphogus, mouth(cankersores) and tongue,(leasions) and pred is the only thing, imuran had no effect, my next try is remicade this month, but i don't have alot of hope for that. right now I'm on 20mg's of pred gi wanted me on 40 but that is way to much for my liking, side effect i hate, so does my wife, she said i'm like being around a kid that is hyperactive

Dr said to stop taking the entocort until I see him on Friday.. tomorrow is my last dose of prednisone.. only a two week dose. I am already up to 5 times ... and my joint pain is getting worse .. and yes.. the hyperness was so bad last week..and insatiable hunger.. not so bad on just the one pill but than again.. not feeling much relief.

Have you been on Entocort long? Taking the full dose of three pills?

Perhaps it is not the Entocort, but instead a flare brought on by tapering prednisone...any time you go below 20 mg on prednisone, and then 10 mg, and the below 5 mg - each time, there is the risk of a resurgence of symptoms.

The Entocort is far safer than pred so if it works, it is preferable to use it - it can take a couple of weeks, or more, to feel the full effect of Entocort.

I actually was on entocort last month.. the new dr pulled me off and put me on prednisone because of the severity of the flare. For the past two weeks I was off entocort . As the prednisone got down to one pill a day, the dr had me add the entocort back in but that is when I started feeling really bad..so the dr told me today to go off the entocort and just finish the prednisone and wait until my appt. It sounds like maybe the dr pulled it too quickly.. this is all confusing...

when I think I can take a day off of pred. or back off 10mg's it really makes my throat and mouth flare, my resected area starts twitching if you know what I mean, so i have to go right back on usuall dose, I'm here in So. CA. so I have an appt tommorrow with mm dr. i'm considering it. I am at wits end with my throat and mouth thing, so I'm willing to try anything at this point.
