Hospitalized

I went in to the ER Friday night after being in so much pain in my left side I could barely move. By the time my stepmom took me in, I had had 20+ bowel movements, and was down to passing nothing but mucus with blood in it. Needless to say, they admitted me. They did a CT scan which didn't show much, but I was unable to get most of the contrast down due to nausea. My potassium levels were through the floor due to all the diarrhea, and they actually kept me on the potassium drip for over 48 hours.

They finally released me Monday afternoon. Had me on steroids, Flagyl, Levaquin, etc etc. The GI doctor I saw in the hospital also tried me on a med called Neurontin, which works specifically on nerve pain.....his theory was that perhaps all the inflammation in my bowels were pressing on nerves and causing the extreme pain on the left side. It has actually helped, so I'm guessing he's on to something.

My 'real' GI doctor is now planning to scope me within the next 2 weeks in hopes of finally seeing what the heck is going on in there, since I'm obviously actively flared. Hopefully I finally get some answers to all this mess.

I'm still on Flagyl, Levaquin, and Prednisone for the time being and feel just completely wrung out. I can't believe how full-out exhausted I am....I've been awake a whole 3 hours so far today and I'm ready to pass out again. :(

So sorry to hear you were hospitalized. bummer! but, one thing is you were where you were sapossed to be! Potassium drip, OUCH! i hate those. just had one last week in the hospital. need a hand held during one of those. well, if you are flaring at least they are catching it before it gets to bad right! take care GET BETTER
