Lyn - the new painkillers are coming from some sort of marine life; sea urchins, from memory.
They're supposed to be really good; really strong; and don't have any issues with patients building tolerance to them or becoming addicted. YAY!

I will be so glad to have something new that will be strong without the tolerance or addiction issues. I have not heard of these Ivy, but they do sound great.

I DID THIS TO SELF..I OWN IT......
I STILL BELIEVE PAIN MEDS ARE NEEDED IN SO MANY CASES

Howlycat...I thought you were just showing two edges of the sword, so to speak of using these meds...I would like to interject that there are many meds that have two sides meaning, they can be extremely helpful, but yet extremely dangerous.
Actually, most of the higher power crohn's meds fall under this category...like prednisone, methotrexate, imuran, all the TNF inhibitors. Heck I can't take imuran cuz it caused pancreatitis. They all have to be used with care...only what is needed to help...some need more, some need less...
I think nanners did mention, and my GI doc was great for mentioning...it is hard to stop the pain cascade at its peak. You need to stop it before it gets too high (my doc lectured me on taking the meds BEFORE it became hell incarnate).
With full encouragement from both my GI and Rhemy, I see a pain specialist doc. That way they don't have to feel uncomfortable about
prescribing the Meds, they actually talk to each other about
pros and cons in care...and find out what woks best so that I can have a better quality of life...
