can someone tell me the maximum daily dosage they take for there crohns, i have been taking
asacol 3x a day 400mg, i started having diarrhea and a flare a week ago, and he started me on
presdninone of 10mg tablet 3x daily, it seemed like it slowed down the diarrhea for a day or 2
but now again picked up in intensity, not having fever, slight pain . the dosage i am referring to is
PREDNISONE.

well in the hopsital ive been as high as 180mg twice a day IV. at home 60mg seems to be my regular dose to get me feeling better with a steady quick taper down.. did do 60mg a day for 3 years straight once way back. me personally, never did it like your doing 3 times a day.. ive always taken it all at once.

I usually start at no more than 30 to 40mg when I am flaring. I personally don't like to go higher than that or I will get more side effects. I have never taken it 3 times a day like that either. I always took the entire dose as early in the morning as possible so that I didn't get the insomnia the med can sometimes cause. I would suggest you try taking it all in one dose and see if that helps more. Good luck!

My docs liked to give it multiple times a day, so that there would be a steady stream of prednisone....so I do not think that your dosing schedule is that unusual. It is less of a stress on the whole body system...I have also started out at 80 mgs per day post hospital...I did that for a couple of week...then I think I had to be on 60mgs for about a few months...cuz I went back into the hospital...They were trying to get the bleeding under control...oh they used the prednisone cuz it was more south (sigmoid to rectal) and the whole area was inflamed, instead of the enterocort(sp?).
