Hi all! I have been doing really well on entocort and lialda. Dr says I will be on the entocort for several months. Pain has gone away and I am just experiencing some mild cramping mainly in he morning. My concern is that I never ever had issues with chronic diarrhea in all the 8 years I have been dealing with this. Now, all of a sudden it is 2-4 bouts of full on diarrhea first thing in the morning literally as soon as I wake up. I don't really attribute all of it to food because most days I eat very light and try to eat binding foods. I was on Flagyl twice towards the end of January and beginning of February. I know the website says it is rare to get c-diff from flagyl but I was wondering if anyone had had that experience. It did not seem like the big D kicked in until I was on the flagyl the second time. As of last week I have stopped losing weight for no reason which I take as a good sign. But I am so not used to not having formed bowel movements. It seems to be a morning issue because I can move around and get out the rest of the day. Should I be tested for C-diff? I do not feel bad or have anyother issues other than the diarhhea. I have taken immodium in the past when I would have minor issues and it would bind me up for days. Now if I take it I am going again the next day and that is so unusual for me! Also I have had periods of a few days where I have normal bowel movements again. so I do not know what to think!!

I think if you had C-Diff you would be going WAY more than you are now. I think its just part and partial with having a Crohns flare. Good luck!

about this time last year I was sure I had c-diff. I ended up being admitted to the hospital the D got so bad. It was triggered by the antibiotics (cipro and Flagyl) that I was sure of. However I was tested for c-diff (a couple times) and the test was negative. It turned out to just be a lot of inflammation. I still think it was caused by the antibiotics and even my GI doesn't seem to want me on them.

I'd say get tested because it's easy enough to do. There are others on here who have had to deal with c-diff (not just fear of it like me!) so I'm sure they'll pop in soon.

Thank you Nanners. That was what I thought too but wanted some other opinions. I am trying to get better about following up with drs and taking things to them. I was told to follow up with a GI for some symptoms I had last year and I did not. Maybe if I had I would not be in this flare..but..c'est lavie!! :) I like to get ideas here before I go off the deep end and my dr thinks I am a hypochondriac. It is hard transitioning from being that person who NEVER had to see a dr except for routine stuff to now have regular visits and seriously watching and analyzing my pooh. kinda funny I guess!!

thank you sr5599. I will definiely keep an eye on it and if I progress to more than a few diarhhea in the morning I will definitely call and be tested. I feel like I analyze every little thing and it is annoying!! I told my dr I never want to go on flagyl again. By day 4 I was nauseous was having diarrhea and by day 6 throwing up and just the thought of taking the pill made me sick to my stomach. I have never had an antibiotic react that way with me!

Usually when you have a C-diff infection there is a very foul odor to your stool as well as the number of times you are going. I've had it twice, years ago. But a few years ago I was deathly ill from some sort of virus and my God my poo smelled awful. When I got to the hospital the odor got me a private room because they didn't want to take a chance of infecting anyone else in case it was C-diff. After they ran the tests I was clear, but I was happy to take the private room!

thanks suzanne, that is good to know. no foul smelling poop for me. It just concerned me because it is seriously full on diarhhea. My history has been 2-4 regular bowel movements a day and sometimes I would even skip a day. But, so far unless I just eat like crap it is confined to the morning so I am thinking c-diff would not do that. But I am going to keep a watch on it.
