I can't say anything about the blood pressure. But when I was just starting college, I felt fine and even believed that I didn't have crohn's. I would take my asacol when I felt bad, but not 3x/day everyday. I felt fine and continued to live life like a normal college student, eating what I wanted and drinking what I wanted. By the time I graduated and got back to seeing a doctor, my mild crohn's had turned into major. Even though I felt ok, the disease had multiplied and moved into my joints.
Why are you wanting to stop Asacol? Staying on a maintenance drug is better than ending up in the hospital or thinking you are fine when your insides are getting worse.
You probably feel better due to your retirement and getting to finally relax. Don't forget about this disease because it will not go away and retire. Good luck.
