In my experience, if you are tapering properly you should be fine. I have not had any withdrawal symptoms when tapering...even from a high dose. Once I'm off the steroids completely I do notice a decrease in overall energy.

The only thing I noticed when tapering was that when I would drop down to the next lowest dose, I would have a headache for a day or two...nothing I couldn't deal with, but enough to be noticible...

My body temperature dropped to around 95-96. This was even at tapering down very slowly.

I had a horrible experience tapering prednisone, and believe me I took it extremely slow.
I had a host of sx while on the drug (acne, mind blowing depression/anxiety, headache, fatigue, insomnia), but just from the withdrawal, it was the fatigue that dominated. I would wake up after just 5 hours of sleep and not be able to sleep again even though I was tired as hell. Even after I took the last pill, the fatigue persisted for a few months before I was completely back to normal.

The only symptoms I have ever had when I tapered was I would have some joint pain and acheyness for a day or two until my body adjusted to the change in dose.

other then my becoming prednisone dependent, the only symptoms I would have (before the dependancy would start to show) was that my achy joints and overall soreness would come back.
