Has anyone ever had normal bloodwork while flaring?  My ESP, CRP, and CBC counts are all normal.  My doctor is trying to determine if I have something else going on or if I am in a minor flare.  I have been kept stable since my diagnosis 9 years ago but recently started having alternating softer bowel movements and constipation, a lot of gas, and bloating.  I am currently on weekly humira and asacol.  I also tried cipro and xifaxan to calm this down but both antibiotics did nothing.  I also took a double shot of Humira and it did nothing as well.  rolleyes I really do not have any cramping just the gassy bloating pain feeling.  I appreciate anyone's input.  The big wedding date is 5 months and I want to be 100% for it. smilewinkgrin

It really sounds to me more like you have bacterial overgrowth than a flare. At least thats the way I feel when I have bacterial overgrowth. But....when I did have bacterial overgrowth the Cipro and/or Xifaxan had me feeling better very quickly. Did you do the full 10 day course of each antibiotic? I know it takes about that long to kick it out of you. Hugs!

actually took the CIPRO for 14 days and it made me more constipated.  I took the Xifaxan for 10 days and it made my stools softer and floating.  I think I may actually go back on the CIPRO again and see if that works on the second go around and then try the xifaxan again.  Maybe I will add a priobiotic this time to see if it helps.  What a pain.

I had bloodwork (including SED Rate) on April 2nd - all normal. On May 17th I had my 3rd colonoscopy and I was told I was in a bad flare based on the inflammation; abscesses & ulcerations seen. I feel fine. I wonder what my CRP would be? They didn't test it last month. Ugh! There's just no explaining this STUPID disease!
