So last week I was finally able to take the first 4 shots of Humira. Before my doc knew I was going to do that, she told me to go on 40 mg of Pred (the first time I was so sick I actually wanted to go back on steroids!). She called me later that night and said that since I started the Humira I don't really need to be on the steroids, but I've heard it doesn't always start to work til after a few times, and I was afraid since I just have been having all these symptons I don't normally get during my usual flare ups (I was coughing up blood, lots of pain/blood when going to the bathroom, etc...usually my symptons just involve lots and lots of stomach/back pain and more frequent bathroom trips...but never this painful!)
...So I convinced the GI to have me stay on steroids but she wants me to do it very short term (I was only on 40 for a few days, then 30 for a few days, now 20, and I'll be seeing her tomorrow so she'll figure out the rest.)
My symptoms are just so horrible this time around, the worst I've ever been, with all these random symptoms, I'm so afraid to go off the steroids. (Which is crazy coming from me because I'm always the one shouting "Ill never go back on Prednisone again, I hate it, wahhhhh and now I'm begging to be on it!) ...I know it's just a bandaid but I'm afraid to go off of them and go back to how I was, which was in so much pain it hurt just to walk or sit.
Am I being crazy? Should I put more faith in the Humira that it will work quickly? Only a week til the next 2 shots... It's a weird concept to take a medication only every 2 weeks and have it work since I'm so used to good old fashion tons of pills everyday...
