New to group and wondering if anyone has tried Cimzia

Hi everyone I am new to the group and have just been diagnosed with Chron's in the last few months. My GI is getting ready to put me on Cimzia and I was curious as to what others think of this drug and how they have been while taking it. Any input is greatly appreciated

I'm on Cimzia, so what did you need to know? I haven't really had any bad effects other than I need to be a bit more cautious about infections (you know, staying away from people who are sick, washing hands, cleaning, etc)

I am mostly nervous because I have read about some of the side affects. Did you see results right away? So far the only treatments I have tried have been antibiotics and other medications such as apriso.

Some people do...I don't know if I'm the perfect one to ask (as my Crohn's has been difficult to treat, and somewhat atypical)...but I do know for myself, I have less symptoms...I can tell when it is wearing off...I think that you might be surprised at how well it works for you...many people respond well to biologics...honestly, while it isn't a "cure" for me, it is a wonder drug, and I am thankful to have it, and seriously wonder what/where I would be without these meds... rolleyes

Cimzia kept my Crohn's in remission, but the first year I was on it, I was doing a clinical trial and getting twice the dose that is now FDA approved.  Once it was available on the market and at half the dose, it didn't work as well.  I had more stomach pain on it than I did on Humira and neither work for the arthritis, so I just switched back to Humira.  It's not working this time around either.  But, again, it did keep me in remission and the only side effects I had were injection site whelps and they aren't as bad as what I get on Humira.  They were just white and raised on Cimzia...the ones from Humira get red and itchy sometimes.
