Hi everyone. I am new to this forum so I will tell you a bit about myself. A few years ago I enjoyed relatively good health (except for a mild stroke in 2003 and hypertension). In 2005 I ate at a restuarant that turned out to be one of the worst rated in the U.K. ( but I was unaware of this at the time). I contracted c.diff from contaminated food and then this morphed into crohn's disease. Before my diagnosis, I had another stroke, which was quite major due to dehydration caused by the crohn's. I am currently taking mesalazine, azathioprine and an elemental diet. At the moment I am so unwell that I am unable to eat (I haven't had a solid meal since June). My gastroenterologist is completely blase about my condition. She wants me to start taking infliximab eventhough there is a risk of me having another stroke. I am currently under a private doctor who is supposed to be an expert in Low Dose Naltrexone. I am currently weaning myself of the mesalazine and the azathioprine. I am on a very low dose of LDN (1 mg, since Saturday). Everything was okay until this morning when I started to bleed a bit.My private doctor is very gloomy about my chances of success in terms of weaning myself of the conventional drugs. I am thinking of giving the LDN a rest for a couple of days as I don't want to go back into hospital. The only thing that has helped in the past few months is the elemental feeds. I really don't want any more prednisalone. Does anyone have any advice please?
