I was told I had IBS for a long time, when it was really Crohn's. I personally think the IBS diagnosis is a term they like to throw around a lot when they basically have no clue what is wrong with you.
Now, Crohn's can be anywhere from the mouth to the anus. And a lot of the tests we have just don't see all the parts it can be at. It also can be missed, even with the best of tests. So no, having been diagnosed with Crohn's, I don't want to be told I'm having IBS now. Unless they know 110% that there isn't some inflammation SOMEWHERE in my gi track. I doubt they can promise anyone that. IBS is only diagnosed once there is NO disease found. So if disease is found, I'm just not sure how they can say it's now IBS with Crohn's in remission. I know some believe that to be the case for themselves, and that's okay. But I'll never buy it, I have IBD and that's what causes my symptoms.
