How do you know which doc to see?

I am wondering, since CD can come with a far reaching plethora of symptoms.... how do you know in some cases whether to see your gastro or your regular GP?

It's no problem with the obvious crohn's symptoms, but right now I am having lots of muscle aches. Over the past few weeks it's gotten worse. This feels nothing like the acute joint arthritis I get from the Crohn's. there's no swelling, and it's not tender to the touch, but I just ache and throb all over, like I have a really bad flu. No fever.

Don't know who to call!!?!

Tara, I'm sorry 2 hear about your CD. I have not been a member of Healing Well for long(nor do I have CD), but am no stranger to health problems; or the pain\cp., meds., stress, anxiety, depression, or most anything else that seems accompany health issues.

When I found HW I couldnt believe it. Not another place like it. I always liked to procrastinate, or just hope things would go away. One thing I did finally learn, is dont. Not when it comes to your health.

Most time when you have health issues dealing with physicallity, you will get tight/spastic mussles. As I have learned, its caused by "body trauma" (ie.your health issues). However the thing that caught my eye about your mussle aches, was how you relate them as like when you are sick. This exact thing happened to me. You said its been getting worse over the past weeks? I let it go until, I was waking up in the morning, feeling like someone took a b-ball bat to me.

What it turned out being was a reaction to 1 of my meds. I had been taking it for a few months, but the changes were slow and subtle at first. I am, absolutely, no doc.; but I'm quite sure your reg. doc. can fix this for you. No matter what it is. Even if he has to send you to someone. Dont try to wait it out. Call your doctor today!

Hopefully your GP is an internist and has knowledge of crohns. He , she will refer you to a gastro or whatever spec. they feel you need.

Hmm, under the "less common" side effects of lexapro  is muscle aches, general feeling of discomfort or illness, joint pain.

Check, check, check. But to drop back down to 10mg when even the 20's not doing everything for my anxiety...

I am on anti-Map therapy :)
I've been on rifampin since end of July though.. but maybe it came on slowly. Its kind of hard to pinpoint a date when you feel crappy all the time.. but I know my muscles were not this achy before.
