So, I went to see my gastro today about
my muscle aches. (What a guy- I call at 4pm yesterday and she calls this am to tell me he wants to see me at lunchtime).. Going in, I just had a feeling I was going to be going back on Remi or Imuran, or both. Sure enough, after I reluctantly tell him I have 2 new fistulas, he wants me back on Remi (well, I could choose remi or Humira, but I much preferred Remi)...
However. My husband has been laid off since feb. He has no medical benefits anymore. I have benefits covered at 100% but I have a lifetime max of 50K. I'm already over 30k. Looks like many of the province s have provisions for expensive drugs, but here in NB you have to have Cystic Fibrosis or HIV or be on welfare :( There is a remi program to help you pay the 20% or whatever but they're not going to want to help if I get 100% at first.. until my loading doses , then I am up the creek without a paddle.
I'm also on many otherdrugs aswell as having a colostomy so you can see how this is a huge gamble. MY dh says dont worry, that he'll have a job and benefits by then...? I don't want to have to count on that. Also, I don't have $5000 just kickin' around to pay for each infusion. Sidebar: anyone want to adopt me?
Waaaah! Any pearls of wisdom??
