anyone have to stop an anti-TNF due to chronic infections

I was on cimzia for a year and a half with no colds, flu, sinus infections, etc., but when I hit the one year mark...wow!  Respiratory infections (sinus, ears, bronchitis) sores that would not heal, boils, the list goes on.  I was put on antibiotics but continued the cimzia until finally after 6 antibiotics, nothing worked.  I finally stopped this cimzia and I am still dealing with the bronchitis but getting better, all the other infections are clearing up.  What to do?  I started on 30 mg of Pred...which we all hate!, and now sleeping is impossible.  It's controlling the crohn's syptoms and bronchitis, but I'm still really mucusy.  Does anyone have this problem?  I don't know about staying on pred long term and never sleeping again (I'm taking 2mg xanex) and I might get 3 hrs of sleep.  My Dr. is leaving the decision of what to do next up to me, as I've tried EVERYTHING

I'm dealing with bronchitis from rem, rem has worked but achey back and chest infection not fun, but rem has helped my cd in throat, that part has helped dramaticly, but in my small bowel not that great, still need pain med's, but not as much.

Did your doctor perform any blood tests to check blood counts? Maybe Cimzia was affecting the WBC count or something like that, making you more susceptible to infection. I do believe that is one of the side effects that these anti-tnf agents can have. Perhaps one of the other anti-tnf agents like Humira or Remicade may work out better? I think rlsnights is right - you probably also need a consult with an infectious disease doc - if you are not responding even to antibiotics, it is probably because your body is unable to mount a sufficient immune response to aid the antibiotics, which indicates to excessive suppression of the immune system. Given that you are going through such a rough time, if you do decide to start over again with either Cimzia or another anti-tnf med, your numbers should be monitored very carefully.
