Diarrhea post surgery

Well, I had my surgery a week ago yesterday, colon resection, signmid.
I got back home last night. It all went ok. However, when pulling out my last drain, the nurse hurt me so bad. I grabbed her hand. Then she goes, oh no! I thought this was a round drain, it's a flat drain. God, I thought my intestines were being pulled through that little hole. I feel like it set me back a bit with my pain and strength for the day. It was tough getting home, crapping on myself and taking a shower. I've had several episodes of not making it to the toilet.

How long before the diarrhea stopped for most of you post surgery? I am trying to eat just a little and take my VSL #3. I don't mind having to go but not making it to the toilet really sucks! I have some of those pads to put under me on the bed just in case and stuff my underwear with kleenex. Hope this goes away soon.

I have had 2 resections myself and experienced explosive diarrhea for about 4 weeks until my bowels adjusted to the changes.  I tried to eat a very easy to digest diet until things settled down.  I ate baked chicken, mashed potatoes and stuff like that. 

That was awful what that nurse did.  Sometimes I think they forget how painful these things can be.  Sending gentle hugs your way!
