Ha! I so well understand! My mother worked at our local hospital. My stepdad had to take me to ER for an
open playground injury. When the ER doc insisted I had to have a tetanus injection I slapped it out of his hand and took off running. He chased me. My mother caught up w/us on the 4th floor (obstetrics) and okayed my not getting the tetanus shot.
There was a time the doctor had to hide the needle to give my kids their "baby shots" and then tell me to look the other way or close my eyes as he gave the shot - or I would actually "upchuck" or at least go into dry heaves if I even saw a needle!!!
So you can imagine how proud I was of myself when I gave myself my first injection of Forteo!!! I actually stuck the needle in and then reacted so quickly I pulled it back out in a knee jerk reaction w/o doing the actual injection and had to "stick" myself a second time! I was actually sweating and had tears in my eyes due to the fear.
My doctor and his nurse had been encouraging me to give my own B12 injections for years before I finally one day asked to try it (after "doing" the Forteo injections, obviously). The nurse had already loaded the syringe to give me the shot. She told me to wait a minute and left the room. She came back w/a new syringe and a LOT shorter, skinnier needle! Wow! What a relief!
I salute you!! I know how hard it was.
