Gentamacin and Zosyn??? Help

has anybody been put on these for absesses and or fistulas, if so did they cause your appetite to come and go, and make you tired. I'm never hungry then all of a sudden I can't eat enough, and ALL i want to do is sleep, could these symptoms also be from the absess?

I could be wrong, but don't think Zosyn is commonly used to treat abcesses. Anyway, my own daughter was prescribe Zosyn while she was in flare and hospitalized, but all it did was cause a rash, fever, and worsen her Crohn's cramps. Now, she won't touch the stuff.

I don't know they put me on it for an absess, it works well with gentomiacin, but here lately I have completely lost my appetite in fact food pretty much makes me sick, my mom is forcing me to eat so I don't lose weight, and all I want to do is sleep ALL the time I didn't know what it could be from whether its the absess or the medicines. Sometimes I feel so lost in this disease :/

Your lack of appetite is likely from both the Zosyn AND the abscess. I've been on Zosyn for an abscess before and it made me feel terrible. Extreme fatigue, nausea, etc... Good luck!

Does food taste or smell bad to you? If so it could be the Zosyn which can cause "taste perversion".

Gentamicin has loss of appetite as one that should cause you to call your doctor.

So I would make that call during office hours.

Hopefully they warned you about the risk of permanent inner ear damage and renal damage from Gentamicin and gave you a list of symptoms for these problems so you can call them immediately should you develop any of those symptoms.
