Shockingly.... I applied myself in August/September online...was approved this past week. From what I understand this will cut back my long term disability because you can't have both . But I was told its better to have the SSDI because of credits and retirement...still in shock I was approved so quickly.

I also found out that the Mayo wants to see me again to reevaluate since I am not making the progress they wanted between the urgency and severe joint pain....they are also thinking of upping my Remicade dosage... from 4.35 to 7.5. I am still continuing the prednisone taper...been rough but just trying to power through because I want off this steroid.

I am thankful this thanksgiving for this board ... and prayers for everyone having a difficult time.

june, did they deny you the first time, if they didn't are grossy underweight, I read ssdi about automatic approval they go by weight, so if you're under weight it can be automatic, we had a kid that was on ssdi at the age of 21 but he was 5'11" and weighted 105 lb's, that is automatic, and actually I don't know if you knew debilitated, that is what his handle was, he passewd away this past july, I met him here, and he was to sick,he needed surgery and refused it, died from I think heart failure or comp's. due to cd

They did not deny me the first time...it went right through...I am not grossly underweight... in fact right now I am the opposite because of the adrenal problems and prednisone.

I did know Debilitated..that was so very sad...

I have no idea....grateful ....but have no idea...I had lost alot of weight at the beginning...been up and down all year...they still haven't fixed me...I go back to the mayo in january...

Yes...already slammed with that... my lump sum from ssdi has to go back to long term... I agree... its stupid and corrupt and wrong..that money could be used for medical bills...getting out of the financial hole that happened this year...

I spoke with my long term disability rep...it will be very little if anything...i just don't understand but there is nothing I can do about it... I was prepared... when I saw the lump sum, I just moved it right back out...and will be sending it back next week.

I talked to my case worker on wed. and he told me that I will not get my award until my sdi is exhausted which is feb19th. this is what I think, binder and binder I think went to determination board and asked for me not to get my back pay until feb 19th because they will get bigger cut of larger check. just my gut feeling, could be wrong.

no I'm glad, because I'm getting enough with sdi, and larger check in feb. so I'm ok with that. I'm glad that they approved me, that eases our minds for sure, we still want to move out of san diego area, it's just to expensive. we still have mortgage, and our equity of our house is barley any and I can't afford to wait it out.
