Thank you, this is really interesting! I have been reading and researching this today, and have found that this diet, (it's not a diet, it's just necessary to reduce FODMAP and totally avoid some of them, and have some of them in tiny amounts, as far as I understand this). FODMAP is Fructose, fructans, sorbitol and raffinose and it I guess that I personally will meet just minor problems when I have to eliminate some fruits, but still have a lot fruit that is possible to eat, and even avoid wheat, but still can eat either gluten free breads or make my own rye breads. I've found that this way of eating is not as restricting as some diets, and if the fermentation problem and the inflammation will be reduced, the goal still remains the same for me as for those following other diets.
I read all, but also the article from the Gastroenterologic journal, and I found that doctors and dietician in your country and in England is suggesting this diet for patients. It's also great to read the results from the pilot, and that this diet could be beneficial even for us with IBD. Have known and read about
those with fructose and lactose intolerance and the theories of the possible reasons for IBS, so this could be really useful info for many of us. Great to know that you also could check for fructose and lactose intolerance by doing a simple breathing test. But I understand that we don't need to have those intolerances to use the FODMAP diet. It's enough having Crohns / IBD / IBS. Thanks alot.
