Hi
I have indeterminate Crohn's Colitis. My symptoms started at 17, but then mostly disappeared for 10 or so years. I had very bad flares during and after my pregnancies, and that's when I got the correct diagnosis.
I'm now in my early 40s. I've been on countless enemas and suppositories, many of which have helped. I was on Rowasa until I became allergic. I've been on prednisone, and most recently 6-mp (mercaptopurine), which had been quite helpful until my most recent flare. My doctor upped the dose, then my hair started falling out. I went off the drug about
a month ago. It's a fine line...
Anyway, I am now on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, which has definitely helped. It's a very stringent diet that takes a lot of willpower to follow. Hopefully I can stay on it for a while. I'm still in a flare and frustrated. I'm also quite fatigued. I like to run and play sports, so I'm frustrated with these stomach/bathroom habits. And I could go on and on.

With Crohns disease you should consider diet and meds as complimentary of eachother. For the hair shedding you can add in some folic acid and that will help to slow it down. You really should find a medication that works well for you. Crohns is a chronic and incurable disease and should be treated at all times. Good luck and JMHO.

Biotin also helps with the hair loss, if you're still having that.
Welcome to HW! This place is a blessing, as everyone here is so helpful and caring.

Thanks for the hair loss tips and other welcoming advice. (I didn't know there were things for that.)
BTW I am also taking VSL #3, vitamin D and sometimes fish oil.
