I've been put on 4g of asacol which is 10 pills a day. Would you think that is a lot? What is the highest dose of mesalamine people get put on??? Just curious...

I don't really have an answer...but to let you know, I take 6 pills of asacol a day, and at one point I was at where you were...I now also take sulfasazine 3g daily(so that's when my asacol dropped). I believe (but not sure, so don't quote me) they have a similar base so they don't want you to take too much...but the ringing in my ears can drive me nuts sometimes...
However, when I started on my journey into crohn's they had me on 20 pill of pentasa (this was in 1998-99), and they were HUGE!...alas once remission hit, I did not stay on maintenance meds because I HATED the pentasa...with that many horse pills to swallow a day, it was easy to become non-compliant...

I am currently on 6 Asacol pills a day too. I take 3 in the am and 3 at bedtime. I kept forgetting the middle dose and doctor okay'd me to take them twice a day. Hope that helps.

Thank y'all. By the look of things I'm on a highish but not the highest dose of it. Hope they bring it down a little next time I see my GI.
