which probiotics do you use? is Ultimate flora any good?

  i there, just was told by the doctor a few days ago that i should have some kind of probiotic for my Crohns after surgery.

I went to the local health food store in calgary and bought some ultimate flora 50B. Is this stuff any good? What stuff are you guys taking? Any other supplements you can recommend?

I see alot of people on here taking fish oil aswell.

I use primal defence, but I've also used Udo's Toddlers because I wanted the infantis strain which VSL#3 has.

It's hard to say how they affect me 100%, but I'm almost convinced it's mostly positive. ;-)

I always encourage CDers to get on a good strong probiotic.

I currently use Align or PB8, my system gets used to one, so I have to switch off and on every few months.

But I wanted to let you know that it might take a few tries before you find a probiotic that works for you. I went through about 4 or 5 brands and they all made my symptoms worse. I gave up on probiotics entirely. Finally my doctor convinced me to try a different brand and that one worked for me. You do need to give each brand a good 3 weeks or so, because there is some die off of the bad bacteria before there can be any improvement, but if after 3 weeks or so, you are not noticing any improvement in you symptoms, you are not on the right probiotic.

For me I was bloated and very gassy. When I take the Align that extra full bloated feeling goes away and I can actually sit in a room of people. Some of the other brands just made my D worse and my gassyness really bad. You just need to pay attention to your body. Also you tend to get what you pay for so don't go for the super cheap brands.
