Post surgical pain

So now I am 5 weeks post colon resection of my descending and part of sigmoid colon. I had a large incision from top of belly button to pubic bone. How long does it take for the soreness to go away?? I had internal stitches and didn't have to get any taken out. I think they used super glue for the outer skin. I am trying not to take pain pills b/c I don't have many left. Perhaps today, I will take a tylenol to see if that helps at all. We went out of town the other day and I did more walking than usual and I think that made it worse. I was so hoping to be able to get back to exercise in a few weeks.

I agree with Nanners here I truely do think it takes about a full year to recover from major surgery. I mean you will feel much better in a month or two's time, but to get back to 100% takes a long time.
