When I push, a mass of tissue protrudes out of my anus. Does this sound like internal hemorrhoids? It doesn't really hurt or itch or anything. It just feels like I need to push it out. I've been bleeding for several days, but haven't seen any blood today. Could it be a rectal prolapse??

Also, is it an urgent issue, or can it wait until my scope in 2 weeks?

I don't know that it is an urgent issue, as in ER, but I would definitely call my Dr and let him know and let him make the call.

Sounds like rectal prolapse to me. I'm not sure what they can do to fix it at emerg, but if you start bleeding or it hurts, go to emerg, or at least call them. Otherwise, call your doc tomorrow or a nurses' hotline, if you have one in your area.

Sorry this is happening to you at Christmas. Hope it heals quickly.

Make sure your GI knows about this when he does your scope.  I have a rectal prolapse..... hope it is just a hemmroid. fornow.... enjoy the holiday and try not to think aobut it...Prof

Do prolapses heal on their own? From what I read, it sounds like it requires surgery.

I spoke with my GI's office and they said it could wait until my scope and he'll check it out then. On a brighter note, the dicyclomine seems to be helping with the cramps and frequency. Only twice yesterday and 7 times today (still better than 10-15).

If the protrusion gets worse please go to the ER. My husband had a prolapsed rectum a couple of years
ago. This is an emergency, because if the rectum and some of the bowel prolapses it can have it's blood
supply cut off. They did surgery on my husband immediately!! Good luck!!
